That is not always the case. Osteoporosis can be a real problem. There is indeed a hypercalciuria associated with acromegaly and some patients have kidney stones as a result. They hypercalciuria, along with hypogonadism, and perhaps steroid over replacement in those hypopituitary acromegalic patients treated with steroids, contributes to bone loss.” Click here to read the Abstract

I had kidney stones removed 3 times and stents in Hospital prior to my diagnosis of Acromegaly , Iam sure I passed many stones prior to that ! Calcium levels are good now!
