In this illuminating conversation I talk with Leslie Edwin, president of the Cushing Support and Research Foundation about the shifting data around hypercortisolism and its connection to type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Leslie frames the new prevalence figures of diabetes patients also dealing with high cortisol, which has jumped from around 5% to roughly 26–27%, with a further subset tied to hypertension, as “a missing piece of the puzzle”. We talked about what this means for early diagnosis, how awareness of this new research is drawing many more physicians into the space who now have hypercortisolism on their radar and want to get the testing right.
