From the Desk of JD Faccinetti – cofounder. Today in our spotlight section we take a look at The Pituitary Society, one of the leading scientific organization dedicated to the understanding of diseases of the pituitary gland.
Its mission “To provide scientists, clinicians and trainees with the most up-to-date, reliable research and education on the biology of the pituitary and the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of pituitary disease, to improve patient care, and to provide a unique international forum for professional growth and scientific exchange.
The Pituitary Society offers a comprehensive list of simple, easy to understand patient education resources on their website. One essential resource is a series of booklets, available in several languages, that can be downloaded at the site. Conditions covered include Cushing’s Syndrome and Cushing’s Disease, Hypopituitarism, Prolactinoma, Acromegaly, and Growth Hormone Deficiency in Adults and Children. We highly recommend this resource as it covers the latest information on each disease as well as a list of pituitary expert members searchable by country. It also offers a robust section with materials about pituitary diseases and disorders and an informative, easy to understand section with articles about how the pituitary gland functions, specific pituitary diseases, and the treatments available. We highly recommend you add it to your list of resources for pituitary information.
Pituitary Society members include researchers and clinicians from all over the world. The Society sponsors educational conferences highlighting new advances in research and clinical care, it honors outstanding contributions to research and formulates clinical practice guidelines for medical providers.
